South Florida doesn't get falling leaves, so we make our own fall. October brings two big Oktoberfests, farm pumpkin patches in the Redland and Boynton Beach, city trick-or-treat nights, a downtown Halloween parade and a pirate festival on Halloween itself. Plenty of it is free.
Every event below was checked against the organizer's or city's own 2026 listing. Several annual favorites haven't posted this year's details yet, so we've listed those separately instead of guessing. Want real scares instead? See our guide to South Florida haunted houses.

Know Before You Go
Free admission doesn't always mean a free day. Food, pumpkins, activity bracelets and parking add up, and pumpkin prices vary a lot from patch to patch.
Go early in the day or on a weekday if you can. Mornings are cooler, crowds are lighter and the pumpkin selection is better.
For outdoor events, check the weather and the organizer's social pages the day of. South Florida storms have canceled fall festivals before.
