The Quick Scoop

We came across a roadside honey hut in Southwest Ranches where you can fill your own jar at any hour, and it got us wondering what else is out there.

The honest answer: true 24/7, no-staff farm huts are rare in Broward and Palm Beach. What South Florida does have is plenty of small farms, honey stands and egg sellers where you can buy straight from the people who run them. Many keep short or odd hours, and some work by appointment or pre-order, so this guide tells you which is which.

  • Closest thing to a 24/7 farm stop: HealthierToGo in Southwest Ranches. Its website says you can purchase any time at its self-service location, and its shop lists products for sale (details below).
  • Roadside honey stand: Florida Genuine Raw Honey at Jog Road in Boynton Beach.
  • Eggs, including duck and quail: Swait Farms in Southwest Ranches (weekends) and Family Farms in Davie.
  • A real farm market in a barn: Swank Farmers Market in Loxahatchee Groves, Saturdays through May.
  • Fall farm day: Bedner's Fall Festival in Boynton Beach, through November 1.
  • Miami-Dade classics: Knaus Berry Farm reopens October 13, and Robert Is Here is open daily.

The Honey Hut That Started This List

HealthierToGo | Southwest Ranches

HealthierToGo sells raw honey and quail eggs from a small hut on SW 166th Avenue. It is described by local coverage and map listings as a self-serve spot open around the clock, where you can buy packaged honey or bring your own jar and fill it.

Where: The website lists the service location as opposite 5010 SW 166th Ave., Southwest Ranches, 33331.
Phone: 954-681-9992.
What we could confirm: The online shop lists quail eggs (box of 24, $7.50).
Status check: HealthierToGo's homepage says, "Purchase any time in our Self Service Location," and its shop page has live listings with Add-to-cart options. Its own site presents the self-serve spot as operating.
A note on sourcing: Reviews are mostly positive, but at least one reviewer says the honey and eggs are bought from other producers and resold. We could not verify where HealthierToGo's honey comes from, so we are not describing it as made on-site. If that matters to you, ask about sourcing.

Know Before You Go

  • Call to confirm before you go. Hours and availability can change with the weather and season. Several places here ask for a call or an order in advance.
  • Bring cash and a cooler. Roadside and honor-style stands are not always set up for cards, and eggs and honey are easier to carry home in a cooler bag. Bring your own jar if a stand offers refills.
  • Respect the property. Some of these farms are at the owners' homes. Stay in the areas meant for customers.
  • "Raw" and "local" are marketing words. If sourcing matters to you, ask who produced the honey or eggs.
  • Raw milk. Florida law allows raw milk to be sold only for animal consumption. Several farms near the ones above sell it that way, so we have left it out of this guide.
