Where You Can Actually Take Your Dog in Broward & Palm Beach County: Beaches, Parks and Restaurant Patios

October 10, 2026 · The Friendly Scoop · 31 min read

Dog beaches with real boundaries, off-leash parks with separate small-dog areas, waterfront lunches and neighborhood patios across both counties. Plus the fees, leash rules and easy-to-miss restrictions that can change your plans.

Jump to a section

South Florida has plenty of places where your dog can join the fun. The tricky part is knowing what "dog-friendly" actually means.

A park may welcome a leashed dog on the walking path but not the playground. A restaurant may welcome dogs on one patio, not every outdoor table. And a dog beach can have its own entrance, its own hours and a permit that does not include parking.

This guide separates those details instead of treating every place with an outdoor table as an automatic yes. It covers beach days, off-leash play, quieter walks and meals across Broward and Palm Beach County, including inland neighborhoods that get left out of waterfront-only lists.

A note on coverage: This is a broad local guide, not a claim that every dog-friendly business in both counties is listed. Park and beach rules come from government or operator pages. Restaurant listings use operators, destination tourism organizations and BringFido, with the source identified. Restaurant policies and patio availability can change, so confirm your specific location before leaving home.

The Quick Scoop

For a straightforward Broward beach day: Hollywood Dog Beach. The current city page says sunrise to sunset, with no pass required. Older guides describing weekend-only hours and paid passes are out of date.

For an off-leash ocean outing farther north: Jupiter Dog Beach, within its marked stretch. Parking is free, and the county lists sunrise-to-sunset access.

For a very small dog: Pawgrass at Welleby Park in Sunrise has a fenced area for dogs under 10 pounds, alongside other size-separated areas.

For a dog who loves water: Snyder Park's designated Dog Swim in Fort Lauderdale or Woofing Waters' dog splash facilities in Deerfield Beach. These are specific amenities, not permission to swim in every park lake.

For a waterfront meal with a dog menu: Nauti Dawg in Lighthouse Point, Shooters Waterfront in Fort Lauderdale or Deck 84 in Delray Beach.

For an inland meal: Brimstone in Pembroke Pines, Big Bear Brewing Company in Coral Springs, Quarterdeck in Plantation or Lazy Dog in Boca Raton.

For a quieter outing: Choose a permitted leash walk rather than a busy off-leash enclosure. Riverwalk, many county-park paths and Palm Beach's Lake Trail offer a different kind of day.

Dog Beaches: Broward County

Hollywood Dog Beach | Hollywood

This is the Broward beach option to start with if you want fewer permit steps. The city's current listing says no passes required and sunrise-to-sunset hours.

Where: Between the Pershing and Custer Street lifeguard stands. The city lists 4999 N. Surf Road as the facility address.

Dog rules: Dogs must have a current rabies tag. Keep your dog under control and clean up all waste. Dogs must be leashed everywhere outside the designated dog beach. Sick dogs, dogs in heat and aggressive dogs are prohibited.

Parking: Street parking is listed as an amenity. No beach pass does not mean every parking space is free; check the posted parking signs.

Important: The dog beach is a defined section, not permission to bring your dog onto every part of Hollywood's beach or Broadwalk.

Official Hollywood Dog Beach rules

Canine Beach | Fort Lauderdale

Fort Lauderdale has a designated canine section near Sunrise Boulevard. Its current city page lists 6-9 a.m. and 5-7 p.m. Older tourism articles describe a different weekend schedule, so use the city page before planning your visit.

Where: The second set of parking spaces north of Sunrise Boulevard on A1A, approximately 1269 N. Fort Lauderdale Beach Boulevard. The city describes the permitted section as beginning at lifeguard tower 16 and extending to a point 100 yards north of Sunrise Boulevard; follow the Canine Beach signs on arrival.

Dog rules: Maximum three dogs per owner or handler. Bring a leash and current vaccination/license information, and check the posted beach rules. Do not extend your outing into the adjoining non-dog beach.

Fees: The current dog-friendly page does not display a permit price. Confirm any current permit requirement with Parks & Recreation rather than relying on an old annual-pass amount.

Nearby walk: The same city page permits A1A dog walking on the west side from Sunrise Boulevard south to the Fort Lauderdale Beach/Seabreeze Boulevard intersection during 6-9 a.m. and 5-7 p.m. North of Sunrise Boulevard, it lists west-side walking at any time.

Official Fort Lauderdale dog-friendly places and beach hours

Wags & Waves Dog Beach | Pompano Beach

Pompano's current Parks & Recreation website lists Wags & Waves Dog Beach at the SE Second Street beach access entrance.

This is worth knowing about, but the page we checked does not supply the beach's operating hours, leash rules or permit fees. Do not assume all-day access or use Canine Corner's membership rules as beach rules. Before going, confirm those details with Pompano Parks & Recreation at 954-786-4111.

Dog Beaches: Palm Beach County

Jupiter Dog Beach | Jupiter

Jupiter is the standout option for a longer off-leash ocean outing. The designated stretch runs about 2.5 miles, from beach crossover marker 26 near Marcinski Road north to marker 57 at the Carlin Park property line.

Hours: Sunrise to sunset.

Cost and parking: The county lists free parking, with restrooms and showers nearby at Ocean Cay Park and Carlin Park.

Dog rules: Dogs may be off-leash within the designated area only if they are well-socialized, nonaggressive and responsive to voice commands. Leash your dog between the car and beach. Supervise your dog throughout the visit and respect people who do not want a dog approaching them.

The easy-to-miss restriction: Dogs are not allowed in lifeguarded areas, apart from qualifying service animals. Pay attention to "No Dogs on Beach" signs and the crossover markers instead of assuming all of Jupiter or Juno's coastline is included.

Official town boundaries and rules · County hours and parking information

Bark Beach at Spanish River Park | Boca Raton

Boca's dog beach has expanded to seven days a week. It remains a permit-based outing with specific dog hours.

Where: Spanish River Park, 3001 N. State Road A1A, between lifeguard towers 18 and 20.

Hours: 7-9 a.m. daily, plus 5 p.m.-sunset during daylight saving time or 3 p.m.-sunset during standard time.

Dog permit fees effective October 1, 2026: The city lists $70 for the annual resident category and $630 for annual nonresident dog permits. Resident eligibility means City of Boca Raton or Greater Boca Raton Beach and Park District residency, not simply a Boca mailing address.

Short-visit option: A three-day permit is listed, but the city's table combines "$20 per visit" with "must be used three consecutive days." Confirm the total and terms with the city before choosing that option.

Parking: Dog permits do not include beach parking. Budget separately for vehicle access; the city also notes limited metered parking along Spanish River Boulevard.

Dog rules: Each dog needs its own permit, and the permit holder must carry it. Maximum two dogs per person. Dogs must be leashed on arrival and departure but may run off-leash within the dog section during its designated hours. No digging or nuisance behavior.

Oceanfront Bark | Boynton Beach

Boynton Beach offers a special-event beach option, not a standing invitation to bring dogs onto Oceanfront Park beach every day.

The city's dog-friendly parks page lists Oceanfront Bark on the third Saturday of the month, November-February, 9 a.m.-noon, with parking fees waived for those events. Confirm the specific event before going, including its dog requirements and any weather cancellation.

Official Boynton Beach dog-friendly parks and Oceanfront Bark information

Peanut Island | Riviera Beach area

Peanut Island is a boat-access island outing with dogs welcome in designated areas on a leash no longer than six feet. It is not an off-leash dog beach.

Hours: Sunrise to sunset for day use in designated areas.

Getting there: Boat access only. Water taxis are independently operated, so confirm their pet policy, schedule and fare separately.

Before you pack: Bring your own supplies. The county says there is no food or rental concession on the island. Check exactly where pets may go with park staff; dog access to designated areas is not blanket permission for every swimming beach or the snorkeling lagoon.

Broward Dog Parks and Leash-Friendly Walks

Barkham at Markham Park | Sunrise

Where: 16001 W. State Road 84.

Barkham has fenced off-leash areas for small and large dogs, shelters, walking paths, dog fountains and a washing area. The county's main dog-park page defines its small-dog section as dogs up to 25 pounds.

Cost: $5 daily or $25 annual per household, plus sales tax. The fee schedule covers up to three dogs. Regional-park gate admission may be additional: in 2026, Broward lists $3 per vehicle with eight or fewer occupants on weekends and county-observed holidays.

Requirements: Register at the park office and provide proof of current vaccinations for each dog, including dated rabies documentation. Current licensing is required under the posted dog-park rules. Puppies under four months are not permitted.

Hours: Regular park hours; closed Tuesday mornings until 10 a.m. for maintenance.

Woofing Waters at Quiet Waters Park | Deerfield Beach

Where: 401 S. Powerline Road.

Woofing Waters pairs size-separated dog areas with dog splash features and washing stations. It is a better match for water-loving dogs than a regular walking loop.

Hours: The county lists 8 a.m.-6 p.m. daily, subject to seasonal operation.

Cost and requirements: County dog-park fees are $5 daily or $25 annual for up to three dogs, with applicable tax and separate regional-park admission where charged. Dated rabies documentation is required.

Seasonal catch: The current fee schedule describes a closure from the third week of January through the second week of April for maintenance and other park operations. Check the park's status before a special trip.

Snyder Park Bark Park and Dog Swim | Fort Lauderdale

Where: 3299 SW Fourth Avenue.

Snyder is a useful two-in-one outing: off-leash play in the Bark Park and a separate designated Dog Swim area.

Parking: Free under the current city listing; special-event fees may apply.

Bark Park hours: The dog-friendly page lists 7 a.m.-7 p.m., with Tuesday and Thursday maintenance closures from 8-11 a.m. The separate Snyder facility page lists later Bark Park hours during May-August, so check the city before relying on a late summer visit.

Dog Swim hours: The facility page lists 7 a.m.-7 p.m. March-October and 7 a.m.-6 p.m. November-February. The dog-friendly page also lists water-treatment closures on the first Tuesday and Wednesday of each month, 8-11 a.m.

Requirements: Current vaccinations and license, no puppies under four months, maximum three dogs per handler. Dogs must be supervised, and aggressive or ill dogs must stay out. Christmas and New Year's Day closures apply.

Canine Corner | Pompano Beach

Where: 1101 N. Federal Highway.

This members-only off-leash park has separate sections for dogs under 25 pounds and dogs 25 pounds and up, with shade, fountains and paved paths.

Hours: The city lists 6:30 a.m.-8:30 p.m., closed Tuesdays for maintenance. Its same page also reproduces a sunset-to-sunrise closure rule, so confirm late-evening access rather than treating 8:30 p.m. as guaranteed in every season.

Published membership fees: Annual membership is $32 per dog for residents or $64 for nonresidents, with additional-dog charges of $10/$20. Six-month membership is $22/$44, also with additional-dog charges. The city mentions daily and weekly options but does not show those prices in its table.

Bring: Current rabies vaccination certificate, dog photo and the required residency documentation. A metal rabies tag alone is not sufficient for registration.

Family catch: No infants, toddlers or strollers inside the dog park.

Dr. Steven G. Paul Dog Park | Coral Springs

Where: Use the city's current address, 2915 Sportsplex Drive. The county directory shows a different Sportsplex address; the city's own facility listing is the better arrival reference.

Hours: 8 a.m.-1 p.m. and 2-9:30 p.m. daily. Note the midday gap.

Requirements: Current rabies tag and license, required vaccinations, maximum two dogs per visit. No puppies under four months. Leash dogs entering and exiting and remain with them at all times.

Coral Springs park rule: The city distinguishes smaller neighborhood parks where leashed dogs are allowed from other community parks. Do not assume every city playground or sports park welcomes pet dogs.

Official Coral Springs dog-park rules

Happy Tails at Seminole Park | Plantation

Where: 6500 SW 16th Street.

Five acres include a large-dog leash-free area, an agility/exercise area and a section for dogs 25 pounds or less. Parking, restrooms and pavilions make this a practical longer outing.

Hours: 7 a.m.-8 p.m. May-October; 7 a.m.-6 p.m. November-April. The city lists Wednesday hours as noon-6 p.m.; holiday hours vary.

Requirements: Current rabies and other required vaccinations, rabies tag available for inspection, leash on entry and exit. No food inside the dog park. Children under 12 must be accompanied by an adult over 18.

Official Happy Tails information

Pawgrass at Welleby Park | Sunrise

Where: 11100 NW 44th Street.

Pawgrass is especially useful for owners who want a tiny-dog option: three fenced areas serve dogs under 10 pounds, dogs under 25 pounds and dogs 25 pounds and up. It also has dog drinking/washing stations, water misters and covered seating.

Hours: 8 a.m.-6 p.m.; Wednesday opening delayed until 1 p.m. for maintenance.

Requirements: Current rabies tag on collar or harness, maximum three dogs per adult handler, no puppies under four months. Use a leash no longer than six feet entering and exiting. Bring waste bags; the city says supplied bags are not guaranteed.

Gary B. Jones Park for People and Pups | Tamarac

Where: 8101 Southgate Boulevard.

Hours: 7:30 a.m.-7 p.m. March-April and September-October; 7:30 a.m.-8 p.m. May-August; 7:30 a.m.-5:30 p.m. November-February.

Before visiting: Read the current city rules and any registration requirements applying to your dog. Bring rabies/license information rather than assuming every city uses the same check-in process.

Craig Rupp K-9 Dog Park | Pembroke Pines

Where: 9751 Johnson Street.

The city lists this as free to the public, with two size-separated play areas, obstacles, benches and a gazebo.

Hours: 8 a.m.-dusk Monday-Saturday; 8 a.m.-6 p.m. Sunday.

Rules: Check the rules posted on the fence before entering. The city says parties are not permitted at this park.

Leash-friendly Broward walks

For a walk without dog-park socializing, the county lists dog-friendly access at C.B. Smith, T.Y., Tree Tops, Vista View, Plantation Heritage, Easterlin, Tradewinds, Markham, Quiet Waters, Brian Piccolo, Central Broward and West Lake, along with several neighborhood parks.

County rule: A non-retractable six-foot leash at all times. Dogs are not permitted in county nature centers or natural areas. A park allowing dogs does not mean every attraction inside it does.

Cost: Regional-park vehicle admission is generally $3 per vehicle with eight or fewer occupants on weekends and county-observed holidays in 2026. Dog-park amenity fees are separate.

Fort Lauderdale: The city now allows leashed pet dogs in its parks, with restrictions for athletic fields, courts, playgrounds, splash pads, swimming areas and water. Riverwalk Linear Park is listed as an all-day dog-walking option.

Shared rules: Vaccinated dogs with current licenses; maximum two dogs per person; no puppies under four months; no dogs in heat; no food inside the enclosure. Keep dogs leashed on arrival and departure, carry the leash and remain inside with your dog. Large dogs cannot use the small-dog area.

Fees: The county dog-park page does not publish a dog admission or membership charge. Check the current park page for special-event or facility conditions rather than treating that as a guarantee about every charge.

Vehicle permit fees effective October 1, 2026: No charge for eligible City of Boca Raton and Greater Boca Raton Beach and Park District residents; $385 annual or $35 monthly for nonresidents. Check your actual residency boundary rather than relying on your mailing address.

Permit catch: The vehicle permit is nontransferable and must be properly affixed to the windshield. Follow the city's permit-purchase requirements before arriving.

Boynton Beach's neighborhood options

The city specifically permits off-leash dogs in designated size-based areas at:

  • Officer Joseph Crowder Dog Park: 800 Renaissance Commons Boulevard.
  • Mangrove Dog Park: 799 E. Boynton Beach Boulevard.
  • Jaycee Park: 2600 S. Federal Highway.

For leashed walks, the same city page lists Boynton Lakes Park, Dewey Park and Intracoastal Park. Those are not all-park off-leash permissions.

West Palm Beach's city dog parks

The city's directory lists five options:

  • Canine Corner at Dreher Park South: 1301 Summit Boulevard.
  • Village Paws Park: 2301 Saratoga Road.
  • City Paws at Howard Park: 1302 Parker Avenue.
  • Osprey Park: 5008 N. Flagler Drive.
  • Mary Brandon Park: 700 Maddock Street.

For a downtown-area outing, City Paws at Howard Park is a useful starting point. The destination tourism guide describes separate fenced big- and small-dog areas there. Check each park's posted operating rules; the city's directory page does not publish one complete set of hours and fees for all five.

Lilac Dog Park | Palm Beach Gardens

Palm Beach Gardens identifies its designated dog park off Lilac Drive, next to Lilac Park. This is an important distinction: the city's FAQ says pets are prohibited in city parks unless the park is specifically designated for them.

Use Lilac's dog area instead of assuming dogs can accompany you onto any city athletic field or playground. Confirm current dog-area hours and any maintenance closure with Recreation at 561-630-1100.

Commons Park Bark Park | Royal Palm Beach

Where: Commons Park, 11600 Poinciana Boulevard.

Commons has a designated dog park as well as trails and other amenities. The village's published Bark Park rules list 7:30 a.m.-dusk, with Wednesday opening at noon, current vaccinations and a Palm Beach County dog license, and a maximum of three dogs per person. Leash dogs entering and exiting and keep them under voice control off-leash. Puppies under four months are prohibited.

Check for enclosure closures before leaving; maintenance may affect one size area without closing the entire park.

Leash-friendly walks, gardens and shopping districts

County park paths: Dogs are allowed in most Palm Beach County parks on a leash no longer than six feet. John Prince, Okeeheelee and South County Regional Park let you build a walk around a visit to their designated dog parks, staying in permitted areas.

Palm Beach Lake Trail: The destination tourism guide identifies this Intracoastal-side paved walk as a dog-friendly outing. Keep your dog leashed and respect residents and other trail users.

Downtown waterfront and shopping strolls: The tourism guide also identifies downtown West Palm Beach's waterfront, Delray's Atlantic Avenue/Pineapple Grove, Mizner Park and Palm Beach's Worth Avenue and Royal Poinciana Plaza as places to explore with your dog. Outdoor public-space access does not automatically include every store or restaurant. Ask before entering; at Royal Poinciana Plaza, look for participating tenants' "Royal Pups" decals.

Mounts Botanical Garden: Pet dogs are welcome on the second Sunday of the month for Dogs' Days in the Garden, not as an everyday admission policy. One dog per adult, updated vaccinations/registrations and a non-retractable leash no longer than six feet are required. Puppies under four months are prohibited. Check the event calendar for admission and special-event exceptions.

Official county leash rules and exclusions · Tourism walking and shopping guide · Official Mounts pet policy

The county specifically excludes pet dogs from Riverbend Park, Loxahatchee River Battlefield Park, Morikami Museum and Japanese Gardens, Gulfstream Park, Wakodahatchee Wetlands, Green Cay Nature Center and Wetlands, county nature centers, golf courses and aquatics facilities. County beaches are generally excluded; use specifically authorized dog-beach arrangements rather than assuming a beach is allowed because nearby grass is.

Qualifying service animals are treated differently. A pet-friendly guide should never turn those exceptions into permission for ordinary pets.

Coffee and casual stops: The same guide identifies Aioli, Howley's, Composition Coffee and Subculture Coffee in West Palm Beach, Mathews Brewing Company in Lake Worth Beach and Common Grounds Brew & Roastery in Lake Worth Beach, West Palm Beach and Boynton Beach as pet-friendly leads. Policies are location-specific; ask about designated outdoor seating rather than assuming indoor access.

More northern-county leads: The guide also identifies DAS Beer Garden, PapiChulo Tacos, Tommy Bahama Restaurant, UTiki Beach, Square Grouper and Civil Society Brewing's Jupiter patio, plus Coastal Karma Brewing in Lake Park. These range from restaurants to drinking spots. Confirm food service, age restrictions where relevant and the current pet seating policy before building a family meal around one.

Palm Beach island, Palm Beach Gardens, Boynton and the western suburbs

You do not have to limit the search to the coastal restaurant districts. Discover The Palm Beaches' dog-friendly dining list also includes:

  • Palm Beach: Pizza Alfresco and Sant Ambroeus.
  • Palm Beach Gardens: Lynora's, with West Palm Beach and Jupiter locations also named.
  • Boynton Beach: Copperpoint Brewing Company, Common Grounds and Subculture Coffee.
  • Royal Palm Beach: PapiChulo Tacos.
  • Boca Raton: Subculture Coffee, in addition to the Boca options above.

Use these as location-specific patio leads, not chainwide promises. Before leaving, ask: "Are leashed pet dogs allowed in your outdoor dining area today, and can you accommodate us there?" That question is more useful than asking only whether a place is dog-friendly.

Put an Outing Together

Keep the plan simple: one place for the dog to move, one place to sit, and enough shade and water between them. These are suggested pairings, not timed itineraries or guaranteed patio reservations.

  • Hollywood: Designated Dog Beach, then an outdoor meal at GG's or Tiki Tiki after confirming a dog-friendly table.
  • Coral Springs: Dr. Paul Dog Park, then Big Bear's outdoor seating. Work around the park's 1-2 p.m. closure.
  • Plantation: Happy Tails, then Plantation Diner or Quarterdeck's Plantation location.
  • Pembroke Pines: Craig Rupp K-9 Dog Park, then Brimstone's patio.
  • Fort Lauderdale: A permitted Riverwalk stroll and a patio meal, or Snyder's dog areas followed by YOT.
  • Delray Beach: Lake Ida Dog Park, then Deck 84 outdoors. Thursday midday is not the time to arrive at the dog park.
  • Boca Raton: Canine Cove for size-separated play, then a dog-friendly patio or a Mizner Park treat stop. Do not confuse Canine Cove's access with Mizner Bark's vehicle-permit system.
  • West Palm Beach: City Paws/Howard Park area, a waterfront walk and Proper Grit's patio.
  • Jupiter: Dog Beach within the crossover boundaries, then a confirmed patio at Dune Dog or another northern-county dining option.

Know Before You Go

Pack for the rules, not only the photo

Bring a leash, waste bags, drinking water, a portable bowl and current rabies/vaccination/license information. Some places require dated paperwork, not merely a tag. Download it before you get to the gate.

The rules are not identical everywhere. Palm Beach County's four dog parks allow two dogs per person; Wellington allows three; Mounts allows one dog per adult during its dog days. Small-dog weight limits vary too.

A patio is not automatic permission

Florida's outdoor-dog-dining framework allows local permitting for designated outdoor restaurant areas. It requires leashes, reasonable control and dogs off chairs, tables and other furnishings. Dogs cannot pass through the indoor restaurant to reach those designated areas.

Ask the host for the correct entrance and table. Do not carry a small pet through the dining room because you can see a patio on the other side.

Heat and water can change the outing

Prefer cooler parts of the day and a shaded place to rest. Jupiter's official guidance warns about hot sand and pavement, saltwater drinking and rip currents. Bring fresh water, supervise swimming and check the beach conditions before letting your dog approach the ocean.

A dog-park fountain is useful, but do not rely on it as your only water supply. At a splash facility, check whether that feature is operating before you pay for the day.

What to Bring: Beaches, Walks and Patios

South Florida sun is strong and a lot of these outings mean a walk from the car. These are the things we would actually pack. Links go to Amazon.

Water, shade and sun

Leash, swim and cleanup

  • Tuff Pupper 30-ft Leash: A long, high-visibility line for recall practice where the rules allow it. Check the leash limit at your beach first.
  • Ruffwear Float Coat: A life jacket with a lift handle for dogs who swim, especially near rip currents.
  • Gorilla Supply Waste Bags: A 1,000-count supply that keeps your pockets stocked for every outing.
  • The Tick Key: A small key-ring tool for removing a tick after a park or wooded walk.

Clean up and ride home

Walks and park paths

  • Max and Neo 4-ft Reflective Nylon Leash: A fixed-length leash with a padded handle and reflective stitching for neighborhood walks. Check the posted leash limit before heading onto a park path.
  • Ruffwear Front Range Harness: A padded, adjustable harness with front and back leash attachment points. Measure your dog's chest and use the size chart before ordering.
  • Gulpy 20-oz Water Dispenser: A bottle with a flip-out drinking tray, so you can stop for fresh-water breaks without carrying a separate bowl.
  • Musher's Secret Paw Wax: A paw-care wax for conditioning pads between outings. Keep walks on cool surfaces rather than treating paw care as permission to cross hot pavement.
  • Earth Rated Unscented Waste Bags: Refill rolls to keep in your leash bag, car or pocket, so you are not counting on the park's dispenser being stocked.

Restaurant and patio visits

  • Dexas Popware Collapsible Travel Bowl: A bowl that folds flat and clips to your bag for water breaks beside your patio table. Choose a capacity that suits your dog.
  • Chuckit! Travel Dog Bed: A washable, packable bed that gives your dog a familiar place to settle on a roomy patio. Check that it fits beside your table without blocking the walkway.
  • Outward Hound Treat Tote: A clip-on pouch that keeps small training treats handy while you reward a quiet settle. Follow the restaurant's rules about feeding pets.

Not every dog needs an off-leash park

If your dog is uncomfortable with other dogs, choose a permitted leash walk or investigate a private session rather than testing it in a crowded enclosure. Remove your dog at the first sign of aggression. Leave food and picnic plans outside dog parks where food is prohibited.

Recheck the page before the drive

Maintenance closures, thunderstorms, special events and seasonal schedules can change access. That matters most at fee-based parks, permit beaches and small dog enclosures. Use the official link beside the listing, not a screenshot of last year's guide.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I bring my dog to any beach in Broward or Palm Beach County?

No. Use a specifically authorized dog-beach section or event, within its boundaries and hours. Hollywood, Fort Lauderdale, Jupiter and Boca each have different arrangements. Pompano lists Wags & Waves, but confirm its operating rules before going. Oceanfront Bark in Boynton is a scheduled event, not everyday dog access.

Which beaches allow off-leash dogs?

Jupiter explicitly permits responsive, well-socialized dogs off-leash in its defined area. Boca's Bark Beach permits off-leash use within its section during dog hours with the required permit. Hollywood requires leashes outside its designated dog beach and owners must maintain control inside. Do not assume the same leash policy at Fort Lauderdale or Pompano without checking their posted rules.

Which places require registration or permits?

Boca's Bark Beach requires dog entry permits, and Mizner Bark uses a vehicle permit. Pompano's Canine Corner requires membership/registration. Barkham and Woofing Waters require paid access and vaccination documentation. Other dog parks may require visible current licenses or tags even when they do not publish a membership price.

Are small dogs separated from large dogs?

Many parks provide separate enclosures. Pawgrass has an under-10-pound option; Mizner Bark uses under 20, 20-50 and over 50 pounds; Jupiter's Cinquez and F.I.N.D. parks divide at 30 pounds. Read the actual sign at the gate. "Small dog" is not one countywide weight category.

Can puppies go to dog parks?

Many listed parks prohibit puppies under four months, including the four Palm Beach County dog parks, Barkham, Dr. Paul, Pawgrass and Jupiter's dog runs. Follow the facility's rule and your veterinarian's advice about vaccination and exposure.

Can I bring my dog inside a restaurant if I hold it?

Do not assume so. Ordinary pet-dog dining is generally in designated outdoor areas. Several operators in this guide explicitly exclude pet dogs from indoor seating. Qualifying service animals are a separate category.

Does a dog permit include parking?

Not always. Boca explicitly says Bark Beach dog permits do not include beach parking. Broward dog-park fees can be additional to regional-park gate admission. Check both charges when budgeting.

Do I need a reservation for a dog-friendly restaurant?

Policies vary. Tell the restaurant you need dog-friendly outdoor seating even if you have a reservation. Deck 84 specifically says it cannot guarantee an outdoor table for every guest arriving with a dog.

Sources and How We Checked

Beach boundaries, operating rules, park requirements and published fees were checked against the linked city, county or operator pages on October 10, 2026. Details that were missing or contradictory are identified in the relevant listing rather than filled with old prices or assumed hours.

For restaurants, first-party dog policies are linked where available. Visit Lauderdale, Discover The Palm Beaches and BringFido are discovery/patio-policy sources, not proof that a restaurant has a table available today. We did not telephone every restaurant or inspect its local dining permit. Confirm the location's current policy before visiting.
