Holiday lights and tree lightings

Fort Lauderdale's "Light Up" nights (free)

The city kicks off the season with three free neighborhood lightings, all 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. with the lighting at 6:30 p.m.:

  • Light Up Lauderdale: Thursday, Nov. 5, Esplanade Park on the Riverwalk.
  • Light Up the Galt: Thursday, Nov. 12, North Beach Restaurants and Shoppes at NE 33rd Ave. and NE 33rd St.
  • Light Up the Beach: Thursday, Nov. 19, Las Olas Oceanside Park.

Boca Raton Holiday Tree Lighting (free)

Saturday, Nov. 21, 6 to 10 p.m. at the Mizner Park Amphitheater, with the tree lit at 7:30 p.m. The Boca Raton Wine & Food Festival is the same night a few blocks away at Sanborn Square, so leave extra time to park.

Holiday Fantasy of Lights, Coconut Creek

The 32nd season of the drive-through light show at Tradewinds Park opens Saturday, Nov. 21 and runs nightly 6 to 10 p.m. through Jan. 2, 2027. It is about 3 miles of animated displays, and part of the proceeds supports Gilda's Club South Florida. Tickets are sold per vehicle on the official site. The weekends right after Thanksgiving are the busiest, so a weeknight usually means a shorter line.

West Palm Beach: real ice and nightly snow

  • Winter Wonderland at The Ben: South Florida's outdoor real-ice rink runs Nov. 1 through Jan. 3, open daily 10 a.m. to 9 p.m., on the waterfront in downtown West Palm Beach. Skating is the only ticketed part. The Winter Tree Forest and holiday market are free to walk through. Check The Ben's events site for skating prices and times.
  • CityPlace Holiday Kickoff: Saturday, Nov. 14, 5 to 9 p.m., with the season's first snowfall. After that, the free snowfall and light show runs nightly through Dec. 31 at 6:30, 7:30 and 8:30 p.m. Santa's Workshop is open Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays from Nov. 14 through Dec. 24.
