Theme Park Essentials: What to Pack for Disney, Universal and Family Park Days
Updated October 12, 2026
A park day with kids is a lot of walking, waiting and weather. This guide groups our picks by what you will actually need once you are inside the gates, from the bag you carry to the heat, the afternoon rain, snacks and keeping kids busy in line. Whether you are doing a Disney or Universal day trip from South Florida, you do not need everything on this list. A few items overlap with our Beach Essentials, Outdoor Essentials and Traveling with Kids guides. Check each park's current bag, food and drink rules before you go.

Theme Park Checklist
Park bag
- INIU 10000mAh Portable Charger - Phones drain fast on photos, maps and wait-time apps. A power bank in the bag means you are not hunting for an outlet at lunch.
- BAGSMART Fanny Pack Belt Bag with Adjustable Strap - Keeps your phone, card and park ticket in front of you and your hands free for strollers and kids.
- Foldable Reusable Shopping Bag (BAGGU Standard Reusable Shopping Bag) - Folds small and holds the souvenirs, so you are not carrying a stuffed toy in your arms all the way to the car.
- Ziploc Seal Top Bags Variety Pack - Assorted sizes for snacks, phones in a rainstorm, wet clothes or anything that leaks.
- Tiny Twinkle Wet Bags, 2-Pack - Zip bags for wet swimsuits, soaked shirts or messy clothes after a splash zone.
- Mini First Aid Kit, 150-Piece - Bandages and basics in one small kit for scraped knees and small mishaps.
Sun and heat
- Sol Brush SPF 50 Mineral Sunscreen Powder - A brush-on powder for touching up your face and part line without rubbing lotion in all over again.
- Sun Bum SPF 30 Lip Balm Variety Pack - Lips burn too, and a lip balm with SPF is easy to toss in a pocket and share.
- NPJY Roll-Up Ponytail Sun Visor - Shades your face and leaves your hair free. Rolls up flat to fit in a bag.
- Amazon Basics Cooling Towels, 4-Pack - Wet them, wring them out and drape them on your neck on a hot afternoon. Four come in a pack, so the family can share.
- Clip-On Stroller Fan - Clips onto the stroller to move air around a hot, tired kid in line.
- JISULIFE Bladeless Neck Fan - A hands-free fan you wear around your neck, handy when you are pushing a stroller.
Rain and water rides
- Hagon PRO Disposable Rain Ponchos, Family 5-Pack - Cheap, light and easy to carry for a South Florida pop-up shower.
- BAODINI Mini Travel Umbrella with Case - Small enough for a day bag, with a case so a wet umbrella does not soak everything else.
- UNO Splash Waterproof Card Game - A waterproof card game for a wet-weather break or a long line.
- 4Monster Quick-Dry Microfiber Travel Towels, 4-Pack - Dries off a soaked kid after a water ride and packs down small.
- Tide To Go Instant Stain Remover Pens, 3-Count - Pocket-size pens for a quick treat of ice cream, ketchup or juice spills before they set.
Snacks and drinks
- Snackle Box Divided Container - A divided box for crackers, fruit, pretzels and treats. Kids can pick from it themselves.
- GoBe Kids Snack Spinner - Compartment spinner that keeps snacks sorted and in reach during a stroller ride.
- Owala FreeSip Kids Water Bottle - A kid-size bottle you can sip from or tip back. Easy for small hands.
- REDUCE Kids Tumbler - A tumbler with a lid and straw to keep drinks cold on a long park day.
- Owala FreeSip Water Bottle, Marshmallow (Adult) - A bigger bottle for the grown-ups, since refilling all day beats buying drinks.
- Propel Electrolyte Powder Packets, 32-Count - Single-serve packets to add to your water on a hot, sweaty day.
Health and comfort
- Moleskin Blister Prevention Kit (Blisterproof Blister Prevention Kits, 26 Pieces) - Park days mean miles of walking. Put these on a sore spot before it becomes a blister.
- Motion Sickness Patches for Adults and Kids, 24-Count - Patches to have on hand for spinning rides and car rides. Check the age guidance on the package.
- Dramamine Less Drowsy, 8-Count - Another option for motion sickness for the grown-ups. Follow the label directions.
- PURELL Advanced Hand Sanitizer Variety Pack, 1 fl oz Travel Size, 8-Pack - Small bottles to clip to a bag or hand out to everyone before they eat.
- Olay Facial Cleansing Wipes, 66-Count - Wipes for sticky faces, sunscreen and sweat at the end of a long day.
- Travel Flushable Wipes, 8-Pack - Small packs for potty stops and messy hands.
- AMOOS 7-Slot Pill Organizer - Keeps daily medications and vitamins sorted so nobody forgets them while traveling.
Line entertainment
- LCD Writing Tablets, 4-Pack - Draw and erase with no mess, no markers and no screen. Good for a long wait in line.
- Search-and-Find Activity Book with Markers - A quiet activity for the queue or lunch table.
- Disney Minnie Mouse Deluxe Autograph Book with Pen - For kids who want character autographs. A nice keepsake from the day.
Kids
- Kids Polarized Sunglasses, 2-Pack - Two flexible pairs, which helps when one gets lost or sat on. Check the listed age range for fit.
